It is working well. I like that it is quiet and tat the top rack is adjustable. We removed the 3rd rack. It did not allow enough room for gym water bottles and travel coffee cups. Even with the third rack out taller trays and cutting board cannot fit on lower level.
Cleaning is OK.

This is my first KitchenAid dishwasher. I grew up with the brand and was excited to buy my own! It does not disappoint. The 3rd rack is perfect for knives, spatulas, tupperware lids, etc. The big open bottom rack seemingly has 2x the capacity of a regular dishwasher. And yes, it cleans dishes. Absolutely spotless. And whisper quiet. This is 40. I'm excited about my new dishwasher.

We bought our dishwasher a few months ago while remodeling our kitchen and it is fabulous! It is basically completely silent-you can't hear it washing at all. We had considered higher-priced dishwashers, but we wanted a panel-ready design and this was more cost-effective. We couldn't have asked for a better dishwasher!

Built in flaw that KitchenAid won't address
CorvairGA

I bought this dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago. You can see the price. This is 5th KitchenAid dishwasher I've bought since 1984. The first three have worked flawlessly. I am still using #3, even though it's 30 years old. Never a failure. I bought #4 in 2005 while doing a kitchen remodel. It worked OK for 9 years until it nearly caught fire. I fixed it but it gave up completely 2 years later. Then I bought this one. Now this one has been damaged by the circulation pump filter screen coming apart and damaging the pump. I've been quoted $550.00 to fix this. There are other reviews on this site where this exact same thing has happened. A clear design defect. After contacting KitchenAid, they refuse to help at all. My advise is simple save your money. It's a nice product but only if you can afford $1600.00 every two and one half years for a new one.

This dishwasher is nearly perfect. Quiet, great features, and more room than the average dishwasher. However the low quality of the rear support legs, and the fact that the toe-kick area has exposed insulation makes we wonder why they cheaped out on these details. These details probably wouldn't be noticed by the average customer, but that shouldn't matter.

Installed Feb 2nd so it's too early to have solid basis to judge. However, Have used it twice and it works fine. This dishwasher replaced my KitchenAid which lasted for over 28 years. Hope you have maintained the same standards that you had when I bought your KitchenAid diswasher back in 1990.

I bought this KDTM504EPA dishwasher in Aug 2015. I liked it very much at first, cleaned great, vert quiet, versatile to load but started having mechanical problems before the first year was up. The circular heater element in the bottom warped up so badly , the 3 arm sprayer would rub it. This was replaced under warranty but the new one did the same thing so we ended up having to wire it down to avoid scraping the arm again ( no warranty this time). Now it is flooding all over the kitchen floor. Opening the acess panel we found that water is freely shooting out of the pump. Looks like a new pump costs over $200 and that doesn't include labor.

I bought TWO of these with my Kitchenaid appliance package 3 years ago during my remodel. They would be great machines if they were reliable, but they are far from anything close to reliable. I have had to call for service multiple times. Problems with my units include not heating, not drying, a leaking tub, motor replacement, multiple resets, broken racks, and more. Cost of keeping them running is more than cutting my losses and buying something else.....AND the leaking tub caused major damage to my hardwood floors! VERY frustrated with product. Very expensive to repair. Buyer BEWARE! Goodbye Kitchenaid.

We bought this panel ready D/W post kitchen renovation. We couldn't believe how quiet it was and the interior LED lights are a nice added feature. It has some neat other features like the 3rd rack for large utensils and it is designed nicely which allows for larger pots and pans to be cleaned without compromising cleaning other dishes. We are very happy this this product.

We had to replace our 12-year-old KitchenAid. Only two brands would accept our custom panel, the panel ready Bosch and KitchenAid machines. We chose KitchenAid assuming that it would accept the panel more readily than the Bosch. Acceptance was not so easy however, creative installation was required. Anyway, the machine cleans the dishes quite well. The dishes only dry well if you use a drying aid. Even with a drying agent, the walls of the machine stay wet even though the dishes dry nicely. This requires us to leave the door open so the machine will dry out to avoid complications of staying Wet.

Thankfully I purchased an extended warranty plan through Whirlpool and after 20+ visits over the past three years, its now leaking and nearly every part has been replaced multiples times. Not sure if the replacement parts are duds but its now caused damage to my hardwood floors. The warranty company suggests I go to my homeowners policy for floor damage! Never again will I even consider a Kitchenaid !

Kess

overall the machine is quite satisfactory.
the noise level is low - as advertised.
the addition of the inside light is a nice surprise
the stainless steel interior is beautiful
I don't feel that the bottom drawer operates as smoothly as it should
not certain I like all of the features - for example, the if the top rack adjustment is on the lower setting, it seems to interfere with the spray arm hitting the dishes in the lower drawer.(I have had a broken glass after a cycle )- which now makes me reluctant to use the machine for wine glasses - maybe I have to become more familiar with the
machine?
I have always and only had KtichenAid dishwashers
had some problems with the installation of this one
hope I learn to love this model

Terrible Dishwasher / No customer service......
seashell
5/21/2018
I would give this 0 stars if possible. I just had it installed on Saturday and with just one time of using it my cabinets turned white on the sides from hot air and water leaking out. I called customer service who called their supervisor who called the technician and he said my dishwasher vents out the back! REALLY the BACK! How does that work? There is no where for the hot steam and air to go except into your wood cabinets. I asked the guy if I could speak with the tech and he said no they are not available to the public just the customer service reps. So I asked him check with the rep to see how the steam and air were supposed to get from behind your dishwasher to the front without causing a mold issue or damaging your cabinets. He wouldn't reach back out to the tech and said I should call one of their certified service companies he provided me with the number to paradise appliance. I called them and of course they just charge you to have a service tech come to your house to see if they can identify what is wrong. Im not going to pay to service a 2 day old dishwasher. Are you kidding me Kitchen Aid. Well I guess since your company has absolutely not customer service and can't give a straight answer my dishwasher is going back and you can bet I will not continue being a loyal buyer of kitchen aid products. To me your wasting your money on paying people to even answer phones. If they can't help you what is the point! By the way the dishwasher is also much much louder than my older one that is kitchen aid.......

On my second "brand new" kitchenaid dishwasher in three weeks and have yet to get one of them to finish a cycle. The first one ran for 10 minutes, even after having most of the parts replaced. The second just overfills the unit and end the cycle full of soapy water. Extremely poor quality control. Also suggest you take a plate and glass with you. Normal size plates will not allow the top rack to be set at the lowest setting without the spray bar hitting the plates. Funny how they ask one to review performance items as part of the review. Have not been able to get that far out of the box, ON TWO UNITS.

Full disclosure - I'm a Whirlpool employee. I don't often post reviews but this dishwasher is a game changer.
FIrst, it's so quiet that you don't know it's even running. You can run it in the middle of your open concept kitchen and it won't disrupt your life.
Second, it gets dishes spotless and DRY. You never have to use a dish towel to soak up those last bits of water.
Third, the rack flexibility is amazing. Move them up, down, and all around. Everything will fit.
I've had it for about a year and it's running just as well as it did on day 1. You will not regret this investment in your kitchen. It's not inexpensive, but it's so worth it.

Happy with my selection
maggiez
12/29/2017
I redid my entire kitchen and decided on the KitchenAid dishwasher after asking lots of people their preferences. It's very quiet and easy to turn on. I use the Light load rather than the Regular, because the regular is so long and the Light load works great since I rinse food from all dishes beforehand anyway.
The reasons I didn't give it 5*...I had to take out the top pull out tray for larger odd sized utensils because otherwise the top section won't hold my taller kitchen glasses and if I lower the top to accommodate the glasses, the bottom won't hold my dinner plates. The top holds glasses well on the two outer sides. I wish there were an adjustment for the 2 middle rows of tines (would be an easy fix) so I could customize for MY mugs and glassware. The bottom pullout works fine but is noisy when pulled out....no big deal. Having said all this, stacking this dishwasher is WAY better than the new Bosch. That had so many tines, I wouldn't have been able to put any of my dishes in it. So as I said, happy with my selection.

Had it for a week and have run several loads. Cleaning and drying performance is excellent. We even used the pot scrubber mode. Noise level as reported by others is very low.
Still getting use to loading it. The third rack gets in the way if you have tall glasses and plates that require the upper rack be on it's upper position. The supplemental upper rack basket takes away valuable real estate ad was quickly removed. The silverware bin with the different sized openings allows you to load it so that flatware does not nest and thereby not get cleaned.

Love the upper rack, the separate utensil slots, the built in light. I love that the door doesn't flop down when opened. The one thing I don't like- larger plates just tip over like dominos in the bottom rack. The bottom rack cross 'bar' supports aren't placed so the plates sit in a stable position.

We have been more than happy with this dishwasher. It is so quiet that often times when it is running guests don't even realize it's in the middle of a cycle and open the door to load it! It cleans dishes without needing to pre-wash and the drying cycle is fantastic. When using the drying agent almost all our dishes come out completely dry. We have also used the top rack only feature to wash crystal and delicate glass and it works perfectly. Would highly recommend this dishwasher and the integrated panel with top buttons is just the icing on the cake.
