We chose this fridge because we have a more narrow opening than most modern fridges and we wanted water/ice on the door. We were concerned about the side-by-side configuration, but find it more convenient than the freezer on the bottom and the fridge is a bit deeper than our old fridge, so actually has more room. We also like the LED lighting. The one problem we had is that one of the freezer shelves is missing.

Features that are hard to find

Adjustable edge to edge glass shelves in fridge and wire racks in freezer give maximum amount of space. These features are hard to find and exactly why I stuck with same brand and similar unit. I wish they still had the spill proof edging. I am Concerned about plastic auger in the ice maker holding up. I think my old one was metal. I™€™m going to keep a close eye that. Black was only one in stock. My last one was stainless. I Bought this one online without seeing it. I thought front of fridge was textured, and it is smooth and going to show fingerprints. It reflects bad almost like looking in a mirror. However, I will enjoy being able to place magnetic pictures on it. GE hasn™€™t changed much in 2 decades, and I feel confident that I bought the same quality of unit! The LED lights are brighter and don™€™t take up space and a welcome improvement.

My refrigerator arrived today and looks very stylish. It immediately started cooling and was soon making ice. Obviously, since it arrived today, I cannot comment on the longevity of the product. Our old refrigerator was 30 years old and the door ice/water dispenser stopped years ago, so it will seem good to have a working dispenser! The black finish is shiny so I am not sure how much it will show smears and fingerprints, so that remains to be seen. But so far, I am pleased!

This is an upgrade from my generic top freezer that decided to start freezing everything in the fridge. Just installed today so not sure about long term but so far it's working correctly. I was limited in my choices due to a small space for a fridge but this one fit like a glove. I was aware it was lacking a deli drawer upon purchase but it would be nicer if it had one. It makes a mild vibrating noise while cooling but it's not too bad. Occasionally it have this loud pressure release sound which is a little alarming but it seems to be normal.

Good looking unit! I had to replace my old top freezer fridge and had limited space to work with. Any French door model that would fit would be the same or lower capacity than my top freezer. I ended up going with this one. It was just installed today so my review is lack time. It cooled down within 5 hours but it has a mild vibrating noise when cooling. Haven't got to hook the water line up yet. Occasionally it makes this loud sound but it only lasts a second and goes back to normal. It's better than what I had so 4 Stars for now.

7 week wait worthwhile!

I had to remove the water tray. If there was a certain amount of water standing it would drip down the front of the refrigerator. By removing the tray I now had a place for excess water because it gave me a little gully to drip into. I am not figuring out the a-tray for the inside freezer door and how it fits. On the diagram it shows it's on the top of the inside of the door and there is nowhere to attach it other than right over the ice dispenser outlet and that appears to block half of the outlet for ice.

Ok, so it is a very nice fridge, love the panel that tells what the temperature is in both freezer and refrigerator. Love the setup inside both compartments. The lights inside the fridge are positioned in a way that lets you see everything. The problem I™€™m having with is the water going to the ice maker, and the ice itself. I followed every step it called for and I did more just in case. Emptied out 4 full trays of ice, and 2 gallons of filtered water was disposed of. Everything sounded fine for the first day and a half. The water going the ice maker just started sounding weird as if it was grinding and whining to get the water to the ice maker. The ice didn™€™t look right so we emptied a whole tray of ice in a big bowl and covered it with cling wrap. Next morning we opened it and it was disgusting, it looked like mold was in the ice, and the bowl is full of black slimy particles. This fridge is 3 days old in our house so there shouldn™€™t be mold or anything else in our ice. Not sure what the issue is but it™€™s really giving us regrets at this point.

I haven't had any issues with this purchase, in fact, i've never had a problem with any GE appliances i've owned. Quiet and efficient. Plenty of room for a 2 person household and we cook a lot for others as well. Our backup refridgerator is GE as well.

Temp control is great - miss the shelves

We love the finish on the frig but are disappointed in the number of shelves in both the freezer and the refrigerator compartments. We've ordered another freezer shelf (though we thought about getting a second basket instead), and will see how the shelves in the refrigerator do. We were surprised by the elimination of the meat and cheese drawer - that was something that we relied on in our previous frigs. The frig door shelves are a mixed bag for space comoparision - some larger, some smaller. The enhanced water filter should be nice.

We had a great GE fridge for 20 years b4 having to replace it. The 23 cft is a great replacement! Though I don't like the high price of the replacement water filter.
