Unit Freezes Up for no Apparent Reason

Would not recommend purchasing this unit. We are on our second one in a year and the new, second one is doing the same thing as the first one, which was refunded on warranty since it could not be fixed. Unit freezes up for no apparent reason.

I haven't used the heater part on the unit yet. The A/C is cold and works great. As hot as it's been, I keep it on 72 a need and still need a throw over my legs. It's quite also.

This big unit replaced an old Chinese unit and hands down it's the quietest unit I have had in all my 75 years. When it croaks, if I'm still here I'll get another G.E. unit of equal size. I also like the wifi operation, although the app itself SUCKS because in the event of a power failure ( which has happened) the app forces a complete delete of the unit. The A/C itself will come back on automatically to how it was set , but the loses control until you delete and reinstall. Very aggravating.

Bought this for a small office in an older building with little insulation. Compared to other manufacturers units we purchased in the past, this GE does a superior job. Even with 90+ degree heat and sun coming from large front windows, we had to set it up the thermostat from 70 degrees to 76degrees as we were actually a bit chilly. Have not used the heat function so can't review on that.

The first one I bought, the compressor went out. Took 2 months to get a warranty one. Got a new warranty unit and the heat strips go out in the winter. Then summer comes along and the compressor goes out. This will be the2nd window unit I have warranties. These units are junk.

Bought if for both heat and air. Heat went out at 8 months old. Three weeks to get it repaired. Three weeks later it has gone out again. Requested a replacement and was denied. Will be another two to three weeks until they can repair it again. My main source of heat so definitely not happy with them.

This the best window unit ever! Works great! A feature I really like is the wifi capacity. I am able to turn off the unit from my cellphone, in case that I forgot to turn it off before leaving the house. I am also able to turn it on on my way home so that the room is cool when I arrive. The same when that weather is cold and I want it warm for my arrival from work. Simply the BEST!

Not good bottom frame design/should be removable

Even though this is a window air conditioner, I have used it in my wall. The downfall to this unit as opposed to the last GE unit is the bottom window track is not removable is molded in and is not a good idea. Should be removable like the top one screwed up the installation through the wall, but that™€™s where the original one was.

It is the best window unit i have had. It cools my whole 800sq ft house. and i love being able to control it with my phone from anywhere. ( I travel for a living ). The only thing that i would change would be for it to be a little quieter. My electric bill went down quite a bit from my last unit.

This window unit is perfect! I wanted a unit that would completely turn off like a central unit when set temperature is reached and it does! It cools my entire 1200 sq. ft. home very well. It is 95+ temperature right now so haven™€™t tried the heating feature yet but expect it to be just as good. Love the WiFi connection feature so I can adjust temperature when I am away.

I needed a window unit in a pinch after my unit being destroyed by a tornado. I need something that had the BTU power to take care of a large area. I have a small GE window unit in a utility room that was hard to cool with my because of it's location and it has served me well for over 15 years. I thought I would try another GE product, and so far this unit has stood up to the challenge.

Installation was actually pretty easy if you have any technical skill, if not it could be a challenge if the opening is not 100% perfectly designed for it. That's the case with most any though, this one just happens to be large and heavy so a bit more involved. So far so good, we'll see how it lasts long term.

Purchased this same exact model 7/12/2023 .....................did NOT even last 2 years !! The only reason we purchased this same one was to be able to install it in the same opening in the wall. Filters were always cleaned, wondering why it didn't really last long ?? We kinda expected a GE to last at least 5 years !! We have had better luck with the 18,000 btus ones. Wondering why the larger ones dont last ??

Unit runs constant. 23700BTU rated for 1500 square feet and mid day in March and I am sweating. Also have GE 12000 BTU so I have 3 1/2 ton of ac energy and it still gets hot. I must need more attic insulation.

This ac is a beast cools down the whole house 1900sq ft, temperature set to 72 can change temp or turn off through the ™€œSmartHQ™€ app while away from home, Very quiet compared to old kenmore brand 15k btu in the living room got to turn the tv up to hear it, The app shows Kw usage in a 24Hr day, you can schedule it to run for so many hours out of certain days of the week or schedule it to run every day for so many hours all week, app also allows you to change it wirelessly through your phone from heat, cool, eco or fan only. Fan speed can also be changed through the app low mid high, a filter maintenance notification will be sent to your phone if the filter needs cleaning. GE I would like another similar AC to review it on YouTube Thanks
