We bought this unit for ~$650 less than two years ago. We went to use it for the first time this season and discovered that the compressor will turn on, but the unit does not put out cold air. This unit has been well taken care of and stored in the suggested conditions in a spare closet, so it was not due to abuse. When calling about the issue, GE stated that they could issue me a $100 credit to buy a new GE unit, but that was the absolute best they could do. The fact that the suggested resolution was to spend another few hundred dollars less than two years after purchasing the original unit is laughable. If the knowledge that their units are breaking after less than two years does not shock them and make them want to resolve the issue, then that tells me everything I need to know about the brand. I will never buy a GE product again. Horrible product and a complete lack of accountability. Disappointing from a company that I expected better from.

Problem air conditioning

This air conditioner is continously shutting everything off in the house. We only had it for two years. The first year was no problem. The second year it's continously shutting off and tripping the fuse box.

Not suitable for 250sqft

I have a 244sqft room and this thing can™€™t even keep up with the heat. The claims of 250-350sqft are ridiculous to say the least. Today it™€™s 98°F outside and it™€™s still 82° in the room. The unit has been running all day and the room has been getting warmer . Even spent the extra on the dual hose kit.

Great Unit, Reliable - Hose/Vent Needs Work. Have used for 1+ year so far. Cooling = Excellent. Noise = low to moderate. App & Remote = fairly easy to use. Easy to assemble, doesn't generate any moisture requiring drainage, roller wheels are a nice touch. Oddities 1) window hose mounting pieces didn't actually screw together - you'll need duct tape and/or a drill + own screws to make this work. 2) occasionally durin the night the unit will beep as though you've changed a setting (app/remote) and display will light up. B/c it's wifi connected, only explanation so far is that this is when it's getting a software update or GE/the network are pinging the device. Not a dealbreaker, just odd.

The Good The Bad and the Ugly

IT WORKED REALLY GOOD IN MY BEDROOM. IT WAS NOT LOUD LIKE SOME AC UNITS AND I WAS ABLE TO SLEEP. THE ONLY CON IS THE WINDOW HOSE AND WINDOW INTERFACE KIT INCLUDED.I HAD TO RE ENGINEER THE HOSE MOUNT TO THE WINDOW, SCREWS INCLUDED WERE TO SHORT. I PURCHASED SOME SELFDRILLING SCREWS TO ASSEMBLE THAT PART. THE HOSE DIDN'T HAVE ANY INSULATION AROUND IT AND A LOT OF HEAT WAS COMING OFF IT. I PURCHASED SOME FOIL FOAM WINDSHIELD SUN GUARDS & WRAPPED THOSE AROUND IT TO MAKE SURE THE HEAT STAYED IN THE HOSE AND ON IT'S WAY OUT OF MY ROOM TO THE OUTSIDE. I DID HAVE SOME HIGH ELECTRICT BILLS DURING SUMMER MONTHS.

Overall, the portable air conditioner works wonderfully. However, the exhaust hose is not insulated, and allows heat to come right back into the room. Not a particularly great exhaust design.

I liked this air conditioner until yesterday when I turned it on and it started with a loud operating noise after about 3 weeks of "quiet" operation. It is not conducive to sleep at all. I turned it off and tried again this morning and was able to eliminate the noisy operation by cycling the MODE switch through its 3 settings back to COOL. I also changed the temperature set point as well. I should not have to do that.
